The best way to describe 30327 would be “extra-urban Buckhead luxury.”
In the south end of the ZIP, West Paces Ferry Road continues its stretch into some of the most opulent housing to be found in the area. It’s a safe bet that a turn off some side road will yield a mansion or two that will make the jaw drop. Part of the reason, of course, is the view. The elevation gets a little higher up here, and the most coveted houses have a cherished combination of being secluded and private (vast swaths of forest have been left intact in many of these neighborhoods) while still boasting commanding views of the Atlanta skyline in all its glory. You really don’t realize how close you are to the city until you’re up in this part of town. (I-75 cuts through the area as well, making access to the city a breeze).
The Westminster Schools, it should be noted, also claim residence here. As one of Atlanta’s most prestigious private institutions, Westminster has turned out generations of Atlanta’s elite, who have gone on to attend some of the world’s best universities.
But it’s the northern end of this ZIP that really shines. Architecture buffs will owe it to themselves to spend the afternoon driving around, to see some of the finest examples of high-end new construction to be found in the region. Though where there’s new, there’s also history: some of the best examples of the Southern aesthetic can be found on the banks of the Chattahoochee River: spanning the western edge of this ZIP are some excellent examples of plantation-style homes that are nearly as old as the river itself.
