East Lake Real Estate
The community of East Lake was founded in the late 1800's on farmland known
locally as Meadow Nook. The widow of Col. Robert Alston sold the property to
the owner of an Atlanta streetcar company, who possessed a vision of the
perfect town for highlighting the natural watersheds in the area. Five creeks
ran into this watershed, offering a perfect opportunity for a dammed lake set
amidst the rolling hills and valleys. Land was to be subdivided into parcels
of various sizes on both sides of the new lake, with areas set aside for commercial
and community concerns. The crowning centerpiece of this new community was
a dance and entertainment pavilion set atop the crest of a hill.

The resulting community of East Lake became focused on leisure and recreation, where the average Atlanta citizen could afford to purchase or build a vacation home or cottage, a tradition East Lake real estate fulfills to this day.
